Fresh Meat: $100 per calendar year, and Competitive: $130 per calendar year. (Once you pass freshmeat and are bout ready you can upgrade your freshmeat insurance to competitive for a reduced amount (see skate QLD))

Welcome to Fresh Meat!

What is Fresh Meat you ask?

FRESH MEAT is the term used for new recruits or roller girls in training.

What is expected from Fresh Meat?

Courage!  Fresh Meat skaters and Little Brisbane Rollers members have to have a great attitude, willingness to learn and have the courage and commitment to be part of the league. This means attending weekly practices but we understand that school, family and other commitments may conflict with Roller Derby, so do not stress we all know life is a juggling act and do not expect Roller Derby to take first place in your life (as much as we all wish it could)

Skaters are considered Fresh Meat until they pass their minimum skills requirements, and have been accepted onto a Team. All Flat Track Derby Leagues follow the rules and guidelines set out by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) for Minimum Skills Requirements.

Some skaters have passed their skills within a year; others may take a lot longer. Everyone is different—so don't be discouraged if you are not advancing as quickly as others.  Take your time and learn at your own speed. YOU WILL GET IT! It takes practice and time.  We are all here to help you and all of us were beginners at one time.  After passing the minimums skills, and passing a written test, skaters will be able to participate in more advanced  drills and participate in scrimmages... and will eventually will be able to play in bouts. Passing minimums skills and passing the written test is what all fresh meat skaters will be concentrating on BEFORE playing in scrimmages and bouts.
